New Jersey Festivals and Fairs

September is a month full of fairs and festivals.   It is a great time of year to get outdoors while it is still warm without the high heat of summer.   Fill yourself with delicious food from seafood, garlic, ribs, to desserts.  There are so many things to do with the whole family from amusement rides, live music, games, and crafts to explore.  Head out to one where you are sure to find some fun!

An annual celebration of all things ‘50s, featuring live oldies music, drive-in movies, antiques, sock hops and a huge vintage car show. 

Pocono Garlic Festival at Shawnee Mountain

Shawnee Mountain Ski Area 401 Hollow Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301
The Pocono Garlic Festival will once again fill the Poconos with the aroma of garlicky goodness over Labor Day weekend.  Over 60 food and craft vendors will be offering everything from garlic vinegar and garlic ice cream to garlic-themed pottery and paintings. A showcase of local musical talent on 2 stages; including the Pocono Bluegrass & Folk Society stage, educational demonstrations, 4th Annual Garlic Eating Contest and plenty of children’s activities make this a great family event.  Peters Valley School of Craft will hold live woodworking, blacksmith, ceramic and pottery demos under the artisan tent. 

BBQ & Craft Beer at Monmouth Park Racetrack

Oceanport Avenue, Oceanport
The annual BBQ & Craft Beer Festival is back for three more mouth-watering days.  Come celebrate the juiciest, most tender BBQ the Jersey Shore has to offer.  And wash everything down with a great selection of brews in our Craft Beer Garden. Enjoy everything from fall-off-the-bone ribs, to tender pulled pork, to melt-in-your-mouth brisket. 

Frenchtown Riverfest
Sept 4
Come celebrate the diverse range of avian wildlife in the Delaware Valley at this year’s Riverfest Celebration in Frenchtown.  Themed Wings Over the River, festivities kick off at noon and will go until 6pm.  Bird Hatching, a bird parade and a screening “Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill” will take place at Art Yard. The Paper Boat Riverfest Regatta, a wildlife show, live music, environmental exhibits, great food and much more family fun all around town.

Vasa Park at Budd Lake
It is an all-day celebration of Scandinavia at its best – where you’ll discover the customs…the history…the ethnic variety of the six Nordic nations:  Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.  Visitors are invited to catch a Scandinavian moment—to enjoy the refreshing outdoors at annual festival in rustic Vasa Park. 

Asbury Park Oysterfest
Sept 9 – 11
Carousel House, Asbury Park
This Fun Seafood event features over 25 food vendors, 50 craft vendors, live music, and carnival games. 

Atlantic City Seafood Festival
Sept 10 – 11
Bader Field, Atlantic City
This festival hosts over 50 food vendors, eating competitions, cook offs, cooking demonstations and more.  

New Jersey WILD Outdoor Expo

Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area in Jackson Township
The Expo helps people connect with the natural world by providing a unique blend of conservation information, education and hands-on opportunities to learn outdoor skills and activities. Numerous environmental and conservation exhibits, demonstrations and seminars are planned for the weekend. Visitors can learn about, and try, a wide array of activities including fishing, hiking, shooting sports, kayaking, camping skills, rock climbing, wildlife watching and much more.

22nd Annual Sheep & Fiber Festival
Sept 10 – 11
Hunterdon County Fairgrounds Routes 202 & 179, Ringoes
This fun festival features sheepdog herding demonstrations, shearing shows, parades, fleece sales, crafts, vendors, and more.  

Burlington Fall Craftman and Vendor Event
Sept 10 – 11
ISC 1 Hovtech Boulevard, Mount Laurel
Artists and craftsmen will be displaying everything handmade from wood furniture, doll clothes, pet treats, ceramics, fiber arts, photography, outdoor furnishings, watercolors, holiday wreaths, hand crafted jewelry and country crafts.   Visitors to the show will find everything they need for their Holiday decorating and gift giving.  Event offers free admission, free parking, delicious food, give a-ways and more.
