A Celebration of Women's History at Historic New Bridge Landing

Join the Bergen County Historical Society for A Celebration of Women’s History on Sunday, March 22^nd 1 pm- 4:30 pm at Historic New Bridge Landing.

At 2:30 pm in the state historic 1752 Steuben House enjoy a performance of Margaret’s Diary During a Revolution written and performed by Gayle Stahlhuth. The show tells the story of Margaret Morris, a widow with four children living in Burlington, NJ during the American Revolution. On December 6, 1776, she began writing detailed entries in her diary of events leading up to the Hessian invasion. While many fled, she remained in Burlington and continued to write in her diary.

On display in the Steuben House will be new exhibits including Women Who Made a Difference in Bergen County. Revolutionary War and other Bergen County artifacts from their extensive collection are also on exhibit.

Take a peek at the treasures in the gift shop while you enjoy seasonal refreshments which will be available for purchase inside the tavern.

Don’t forget to visit the society’s authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen where interpreters will be cooking a roast over a pot of root vegetables and baking thirded bread.

Activities for families include weaving potholders and the society’s QR Code cell phone-based scavenger hunt.

Ticket reservations are encouraged: $12 adults, $7 students, BCHS member free.

Free parking available on site or take the train to the “New Bridge Landing” station on the Pascack Valley Line.

Dogs are permitted on site on a leash but not in the houses.
