Holiday Model Train Exhibit at NY Society of Model Engineers

The New York Society of Model Engineers, is the nation’s oldest model train and railroad historical Society. We will be holding our Annual Open House  on Saturdays and Sundays - December 10th & 11th; and December 17th & 18th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  The Society is in its own building at 341 Hoboken Road, Carlstadt, NJ and less than 1/2 mile from MetLife Stadium.

Incorporated in 1926, the “Society” features two massive model railroad layouts covering more than 5,000 square feet.   The two layouts,  "O" Scale and "HO" Scale, features detailed scenic dioramas with realistic track work, signals, stations, industries, structures, bridges and tunnels.  Multiple trains; passenger, freight, and circus trains will be running on both layouts. Many of the models are one of a kind and were handmade by Society members. Over the years thousands of people have enjoyed the Society’s exhibitions.

Also on display is the Society's collection of historic railroad memorabilia. This includes a large display of illuminated tail signs which hung from the Observation Cars of many famous passenger trains including The Pennsylvania "Broadway Limited", the New York Central “20th. Century Limited" and the Lackawanna "Phoebe Snow.". Numerous Railroad lanterns, steam locomotive bells, whistles, and railroad photos are also displayed. This year a special exhibition of historic model trains from the 1920s and 1930s highlights the early development of model trains and the Society’s upcoming 100th. Anniversary
