Top Things to do this Fall in New Jersey

Posted by: NJ Kids Team - September 13, 2013

The air is crisp and clean, the sky is a clear blue - Fall is finally here!  Time for some fun family outdoor adventures, from apple picking, farm tours, Halloween chills and thrills and more! We’ve got the best of the autumn happenings for you, and we’re always adding more, so come back often!

September Happenings

Pick your own, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, outdoor walks, family friendly activities, and even a few early Halloween frights!

Start off your fall fun with a Giant Corn Maze adventure at Stony Hill Farm Market in Chester – a 10 acre cornfield, complete with 5 bridges, game sheets, decoder glasses, pathways that form the shape of the faces of the two candidates for governor of New Jersey, and more. Now through November.  Special weekend events start September 28th.

Enjoy the beginning of apple picking season at Apple Day at Terhune Orchards in Princeton – wagon rides, pony rides, corn mazes, apple and pumpkin picking and much more. September 14th and 15th

And for more Apple picking fun, grab a bucket and head to a local farm such as Wightman’s in Morristown, or Riamede in Chester (for more pick-your-own, click here)

Enjoy the crisp fall air with a visit to the Haunted Pumpkin Garden at the NY Botanical Garden. The children’s garden is full of intricately carved pumpkin sculptures, bugs, bats, parades, and more. New this year, the Haunted Pumpkin Garden also features creepy creature encounters every weekend and the largest Spooky Nighttime Adventures trail ever!

And for the older crew, climb aboard the Haunted Hayride of Terror at C Casola Farms.  Wander through the Haunted Barn and Haunted wooded trail…if you dare!  Weekends through Halloween

Catch flight at the annual Migration Festival at the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor on September 21 and 22nd. Live Animals Presentations, naturalist-led walks on Seven Mile Island, guided viewing from the tower and trail, kayak tours, migration themed crafts, games and activities, terrapin releases, and more!

Rainy day blues?  Blow off steam at Reboundz in Edison or Pump it Up in Roselle Park; head to iPlay America in Freehold; play a round of golf at Monster Golf in Union.

Art galore at the ‘Crayola’ experience at Imagine That! in Florham Park on September 28th.  Tons of hands-on activities with the gang from Crayola.
