Engaging and balanced learning for students

Children are born with an innate sense of curiosity, a thirst for knowledge, and a need for an engaging learning environment that promotes and encourages both. For 30 years, in Bergen County, The Ability School has successfully helped students become productive, highly-motivated learners with the ability to translate their curiosity and acquired knowledge into real-world action within their everyday lives.

This private, pre-k through 8th-grade school uses precise technology, balanced with individualized programs, to ensure each student progresses successfully, then thrives with the ability to create a future for themselves they are excited about.

The Head of School, Joan Marrazzo, states, “Our school uses a unique 100% proficiency-based program that stresses individual mastery and application. Students move at their own pace in small classes with our competent and caring faculty.”

Parents of The Ability School love these small classes with low student-to-teacher ratio as it, along with the school’s sense of community, allows their student the individual attention needed to succeed with confidence, on their own timeline.

The school provided comprehensive remote instruction at the beginning of the pandemic, and is well equipped and ready to do so again should it become necessary, however, Joan Marazzo says, “These small class sizes allow us to provide in-person, hands-on learning at this time”

In the hopes of continued in-person education, The Ability School strictly adheres to these additional safety protocols:

● Staggered drop offs and pickups to ensure less people are entering and exiting the building at the same time.
● Unnecessary visitors are not allowed, nor is anyone exhibiting any symptoms of the virus.
● Daily temperatures and health screening are taken.
● Increased cleaning procedures with wipe downs, disinfecting, and UV lights are put into effect several times throughout the day.
● Hand-washing is repeatedly reminded and sanitizers are provided in all classrooms.

The Ability School offers rolling enrollment and can arrange virtual meetings with the headmistress to discuss their programs and answer any questions you may have. There are a few spaces still open at this time, as well as their summer camp and the 2021-22 school year.

Schedule a meeting now for the opportunity to find out more about this school and how they can help your child develop a life-long love for learning.
