Balance is everything at Gill St. Bernard’s. Head of School, Sid Rowell, takes pride in the breadth of classes and programs, which gives students opportunities to explore new interests and discover emerging talents. “The 16:1 student teacher ratio, combined with the offerings in academics, arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities encourages our students to try something new,” he says. “

At GSB, you will find writers who never realized that they liked to write, actors who never imagined themselves on a stage, members of student government who never saw themselves as leaders, Division One athletes who first tried out for their sport here. And, for each of those 650 students, balance remains key in helping them become the best versions of themselves.”

Inviting Students To Learn

Gill St. Bernard’s was founded in 1900 by a merger of St. Bernard’s School in Gladstone and the Gill School of Bernardsville. The 208-acre campus of this college preparatory school is shared by 650 students from preschool through grade 12 in extraordinary ways.  STREAMS, our signature science program serving grades 4, 5, and 6, enables the practice of critical thinking, creativity collaboration, and flexibility with enriched learning through technology, engineering, and sustainability.

For over 40 years, our Spring Unit program has been providing two-week experiential opportunities for Upper School students to engage in learning outside the traditional academic setting and beyond the traditional academic curriculum.
