Summertime Social at Historic New Bridge Landing

Visit Bergen County’s premier historic site this summer: Historic New Bridge Landing! The Bergen County Historical Society will be having its annual Summertime Social on Sunday, August 23^rd 1 pm- 4:30 pm.

Staffed by knowledgeable BCHS interpreters, all 3 Jersey- Dutch sandstone houses including the state historic 1752 Steuben House will be open for tours throughout the day.

On display for viewing in the Steuben House will be new exhibits and Revolutionary War artifacts from their extensive collection.

Join Ben Franklin portrayed by Jack Sherry at 2 pm on the front porch of the Steuben House as he talks about his time as America’s first diplomat.

Stop by the Westervelt-Thomas Barn to see a broom making demonstration.

Check out The Blackhorse Inn located in the Campbell-Christie House where light summer refreshments will be available.

Do not forget to visit the society’s authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen where BCHS interpreters will be displaying and discussing well known 18^th century drinks like cider, cherry bounce and ginger beer. Visitors will also have a chance to make 18^th century sachet bundles with dried herbs and/or spices to take home.

Kite decorating and flying for families will be on site as well, weather permitting.

Ticket reservations are encouraged: $12 adults, $7 students, BCHS members free.

Free parking available on site or take the train to the “New Bridge Landing” station on the Pascack Valley Line.

Dogs are permitted on site on a leash but not in the houses.
