Read & PIck: Corn at Terhune Orchards

Read & Pick is an engaging educational program at Terhune Orchards that combines hands-on farm experiences with storytelling and learning for young children. Designed for parents and children ages preschool through 8, the program introduces participants to seasonal crops while helping them discover how fruits and vegetables are grown on the farm.

This Read & Pick session celebrates everything wonderful about corn. Children will begin the program with story time, featuring books about corn, vegetables, and gardening. Following the stories, farm staff will lead an interactive educational discussion about how corn grows, what plants need to thrive, and how farmers know when corn is ready to harvest.

After the learning portion, participants will head to the field to see corn stalks up close and pick their own ears of corn to take home. It's a fun opportunity for children to experience firsthand how this summer vegetable grows.

The cost is $12.00 per child and includes the picked corn. Two one-hour sessions are offered on Tuesdays at 9:30 am and 11:00 am. Advance online ticket purchase is required.
