For over a century, Camp Awosting (for boys) and Camp Chinqueka (for girls) have provided unforgettable summer experiences on the beautiful shores of Bantam Lake in Connecticut. Our brother-sister camps share the same family ownership, values, and spirit, offering separate programs designed to help every camper grow in confidence, independence, and friendship.

Each day is filled with adventure: water sports on the lake, plus team athletics, creative arts, outdoor skills, and camp traditions that make every summer unique. With dedicated staff, a strong sense of community, and a balance of structure and freedom, campers discover their best selves while having a ton of fun.

At Awosting and Chinqueka sleepaway camp, memories are made, friendships last a lifetime, and every camper belongs.

From early morning reveille at 7:30am to lights-out around 9pm, every day is built around three energetic activity periods each morning (including a guaranteed swim lesson) followed by electives in the afternoon. After lunch and a brief rest, campers choose two electives—from over 30 options including gymnastics, archery, go-karts, martial arts, ceramics, drama, water-sports, and more. Each evening features a special all-camp event like a campfire, team game, or social.

9:30 First morning activity (always a swim or waterfront lesson)
10:20 and 11:10 Second and third morning activities
12:00 Free time / letters home
12:30 Lunch
1:15 Elective sign-ups
2:30 & 3:00 Elective activity periods
5:00 Free time
5:50 Flag lowering
6:00 Dinner
7:00 Evening Program
8:30 Return to cabins
9:00 Taps & lights out
