Kids can experience a little of everything at Summer Day Camps

New Jersey is fortunate to have many camp options for kids of all ages. Whether it be with special themes, skills or topics, kids within our state have many great summer and school break camps to select from depending on interest, experience and schedule. What if your child wants to experience a little of everything like some swimming, arts & crafts, and music, with maybe a little robotics and dance and, of course, tons of fun? If that’s the case, then a traditional day camp might be the perfect solution. Below is a list of our favorite, local Day Camps you might want to consider for your child’s next summer break.

Spring Lake Day Camp

Spring Lake Day Camp offers a traditional full season co-ed day camp for ages 3 to 15 years of age with a mini day option for the younger campers. ACA-accredited camp catering to families in Bergen, Passaic, Morris, and Essex Counties as well as parts of Hudson County. Options include: Full, Half and Mini Day options for children ages 3-15. Full day is offered from 9am to 4pm and half-day from 9am to 1:20pm. They offer 3 main camps: Junior, Girls and Boys with an additional option for a Junior Training Program for grades 9 & 10. Spring Lake Day Camp programs are individually designed to match the age and abilities of our campers from 3 to 15 years old. The low ratio of 3:1 (campers to counselors) is what sets SLDC apart with superior attention, care and guidance.

Morristown Beard Day Camp

Morristown-Beard Day Camp, a state-licensed and ACA accredited facility, located on a beautiful 22-acre campus, is designed to help children develop skills in sports, arts and crafts, drama, swimming and science. The daily schedule is comprised of structured periods, with a flexible schedule on special event days. Campers are grouped based upon their age. Traditional Camp runs from 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Camp shows, camp t-shirt, towel service, morning and afternoon snacks and a drink at lunchtime are provided in the Traditional Camp fee. Early Arrival and Extended Day is also available. Camp Discovery at Fairleigh Dickinson University

“FDU’s Camp Discovery is a traditional camp experience with exciting opportunities for discovery and travel. Campers will make new friends, discover more about their world, and build self-confidence.” as expressed on their website. Activities include STEM, enrichment, arts & crafts, sports, performance arts, swimming and more for students entering 1st to 9th grade. These camps are available at two locations: Morris County’s Florham Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University (Madison, NJ) and Bergen County’s Metropolitan Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University (Teaneck, NJ).

Summer Friends Day Camp is located on State Rte 34 in the Matawan/Old Bridge area. This traditional day camp has 7 acres of property and two separate buildings with plenty of room for children to run and have fun. Red Cross Certified swim lessons are available every morning and free swim every afternoon in three state-of-the-art swimming pools. Also offered are lessons in tennis, karate, archery, dance and drama, arts and crafts, hockey, softball, soccer, rock wall, volleyball and so much more!
