Step Into Summer with Montclair Kimberley Academy Middle School Camps
Give your middle schooler the keys to the lab this summer. At Montclair Kimberley Academy, the STEM+ Explorers Camp empowers middle school students to explore the world through the lens of innovation. Designed for rising 6th through 9th graders, the program invites students to “step into summer” by engaging in hands-on learning across fields such as robotics, engineering, coding, and design.
Ready to Explore?
STEM+ Explorers Camp offers a choice of 4 weekly themed sessions, from July 6 through July 30. Campers build their weekly schedule with 2 core courses and 2 electives.
Each day blends structured learning with creative exploration. Here’s a sample schedule (depending on your themed week). In the mornings, students dive into core STEM topics—ranging from experimental science and fabrication to computational thinking—building essential skills through real-world applications. They can be working on a coding, engineering and possibly 3D printing project. Afternoons shift to collaborative design challenges, where students tackle pressing global issues like rising sea levels, water scarcity, extreme weather, and even the prospect of colonizing Mars. These team-based projects encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation.
The program also emphasizes creativity through electives such as podcasting, filmmaking, architecture, music making and audio engineering, allowing students to explore the intersection of STEM and the arts. Hosted in state-of-the-art labs and innovation spaces, the camp reflects MKA’s broader commitment to interdisciplinary, future-focused education.
Led by passionate instructors, campers build skills, and a love of discovery that lasts long after our July camp ends. Ultimately, STEM+ Explorers empower students to think boldly, collaborate effectively, and develop the confidence to shape the future—one idea at a time.
