Youth Classes and Teen Summer Camps

MN Acting Studio is a highly regarded and well-known acting institution that originated in the heart of New York City with a new location now open in Closter, NJ. Our studio specializes in providing the highest quality on-camera training for actors of all ages, both locally and globally. Founded by accomplished on-camera acting teacher, Matt Newton, MN Acting Studio takes a modern and innovative approach to acting education.

Combining the artistry of on-camera acting with the practical knowledge of the industry, we equip our students with the necessary skills to excel at the highest caliber, be it during auditions, zoom callbacks, or on set. As an institution deeply connected within the entertainment industry, MN Acting Studio maintains close relationships with managers, agents, and casting directors, many of whom serve as special industry guests in our classes.

Our students have booked roles in countless TV shows, films, and Broadway productions. With our comprehensive and groundbreaking approach, we empower actors to reach their full potential and make their mark in the acting world. Stacey Van Gorder and Matt Newton have now brought MN Acting studio to Bergen County. Stacey, Matt’s long time student, friend, and collaborator is at the helm of this budding studio offering on-camera classes and coaching for both adults and kids.

Filmmaking Boot Camp

At MN Acting Studio, students ages 14-17 will learn the ins and outs of filmmaking in this popular summer film bootcamp taught by head MN teacher and teen on set coach Matt Newton. Students will write, direct, act in, edit, and present their own short film in the theme that they choose (past themes included “Stranger Things,” “Marvel,” “Saturday Night Live,” and “Horror”). Over the 5 days of this fast paced intensive, students will create a 3-4 minute short film from concept to finish with a very “hands on”, practical approach, and will be using professional lighting, camera, and sound, and while also learning important elements of filmmaking including shotlists, location scouting, camera angle, lighting, editing, basic color correction, as well as working on the crew (sound, DP, gaffer, key grip, script supervisor).
