Summer Adventure and Fun at YMCA Camps
Camp at the Greater Bergen County YMCA is a great place for summer fun and adventure! They offer camp programs to children ages 5-18 for day camp and resident camp. Campers’ days are filled with playing, socializing, exploring, and experimenting in the company of friends and counselors. Offering a Summer's Fun Camp (ages 5-10), Sports Galore Day Camp (ages 6-10), Kahagon Camp (entering grades K-1), Oratam Camp (entering grades 2-7), Teen Venture Camp (entering grades 8-9), and CIT program (entering 11-12). Their new program center in New Milford, NJ is just off of Route 4 in Bergen County. In addition to NJ camps, they offer day and overnight camp programs nestled in Harriman State Park along Lake Kanawauke, which provides a beautiful natural setting for a traditional summer camps. The camps are 45 minutes from Hackensack and campers are bused to camp from the YMCA.
At camp, campers have the opportunity to acquire and practice valuable skills including problem-solving, teamwork, and making healthy choices. Each fun-filled day, campers participate in arts & crafts, sports & games, nature activities, boating, and swimming. Color War and other camp-wide special activities occur throughout the summer. Staff participate in pre-season training to further develop their skills to create an environment where our campers feel accepted and encouraged. A registered nurse is in attendance each day.
