Kean University is committed to presenting performances that are all-inclusive, for both children and adults with various disabilities. All Kean Stage facilities are wheelchair-accessible. Large-print programs and publications are available in alternate formats with advance notice, as are sign-interpreted, audio-described and assisted listening devices.

The sensory-friendly performances at Kean Stage provide a comfortable setting for guests with autism spectrum disorder and other sensory, social and cognitive disabilities. Patrons are encouraged to get up and walk, jump, sing and dance; lights will be kept on, although dimmed, throughout the show. The sound levels will be consistent and at a lower volume and a quiet room will be available for those who become overwhelmed or need a break.

These performances are not open exclusively to those with disabilities. Our sensory-friendly shows can be a great introduction to live theater for young children who may not be able to sit still and quietly for an extended period. We aim to make our shows accessible and enjoyable for all audiences. At Kean Stage, our doors are open to everyone.

Faithful to the madness and lively humor of the original piece, this revisitation to Lewis Carroll’s classic tale has a unique twist: the setting is no longer a garden but a library full of pop-up books! Each book is then a discovery and a door to the next adventure.
