Field Station: Dinosaurs To Re-open Memorial Day Weekend

Posted by: NJ Kids Team - April 08, 2014

Tickets on-sale to the general public starting March 28, 2014

On Friday, May 24, 2014, the 20-acre outdoor Jurassic learning expedition in Secaucus, NJ, will open for the season. Tickets will go on-sale March 28, 2014.

"Kids love the mystery and adventure of science," said Guy Gsell, president and executive producer of Field Station: Dinosaurs. "This year we're bringing them closer than ever to the dinosaurs and asking every kid to explore and make discoveries with us."

This will be the third season where guests can experience the trails spotted with 32 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs. Families can also enjoy interactive shows starring a 15-foot juvenile T-Rex, game shows to test your dinosaur knowledge, a dig site, the 3D movie Dinosaurs Alive! and other activities throughout the day. There are also hands-on workshops, created with paleontologists and scientists at the New Jersey State Museum.

Also returning this season are the exciting nighttime events Dozin’ with Dinos and Dinosaurs After Dark. At Dozin’ with Dinos (August 2) explorers are invited to an overnight campout adventure among the dinosaurs. At Dinosaurs After Dark (Friday & Saturday nights from September 27 through October 25) guests experience a nighttime adventure complete with ghost stories, singing around the campfire, s’mores and an up-close visit with T-Rex. Rounding out the season are a number of special events including the highly popular Scout Days (June 14 and September 27) where all park guests including scout groups can participate in extra programming throughout the park about camping, bugs, birds, dinosaurs and more.

"We offer a friendly, fresh air alternative for parents looking to escape the smoke and mirrors of those noisy impersonal spectaculars."

Field Station: Dinosaurs is open to school groups on select weekdays in April, May, June, September and October. Educators should call 973-748-4317 or e-mail groups@fieldstationdinosaurs.com for more information.

Field Station: Dinosaurs opens to the general public on May 24. Days and hours of operation for the general public are: Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from May 24 through June 29 and September 6 through November 2; Tuesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from July 1 through September 1. The park is open on the following holidays: Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Yom Kippur (September 25, 2014) and Columbus Day.

About Field Station: Dinosaurs

Field Station: Dinosaurs is a world-class family attraction that combines cutting-edge science with the creative minds of great artists and teachers to create a one-of-kind experience that's thrilling, educational and fun.

Set against the breathtaking natural backdrop of the New Jersey Meadowlands and nestled at the base of a 150 million year old rock formation, the Field Station is an oasis of natural wonder just nine minutes from New York City. Over thirty life-sized, realistic dinosaurs (including the ninety foot long Argentinosaurus) come to life thanks to the brilliant engineering of the world's leading roboticists and the imagination of our artists.

The story of the dinosaurs is vividly presented on twenty acres of wild, unpredictable woods, mysterious pathways, and mountain trails. Scientists from the New Jersey State Museum have worked to ensure that the exhibition encompasses the latest theories and discoveries in the fields of paleontology, geology, and environmental studies. Workshops, games and activities connect the story of the dinosaurs to our world today, giving new relevance to their lives and power to the tale of their extinction.

And at the center of it all is the fun, the joy and the wonder of dinosaurs. Our expedition takes every family on a shared adventure - full of mystery, surprise and a sense of awe.
