July is National Ice Cream Month, so join in the fun at the Whippany Railway Museum

on Sunday, July 7th during a 10-mile, 45-minute round trip train ride.  Your ticket includes a scoop of delicious ice cream after the ride at the Snack Depot in Whippany, where additional snacks and refreshments will be available for sale.

National Ice Cream Month comes at a time of the year when millions of people all across the country can enjoy one of the most iconic American deserts of all time.  Ice cream was brought to the American colonies from Europe and quickly became a favorite of the wealthy.  It would remain in the hands of the elite until the 19th century when improvements in technology allowed ice cream to be mass produced.

The Whippany Railway Museum trains feature a unique collection of vintage cabooses from historic NJ rail lines of long ago.  For a slightly higher fare you can upgrade your excursion experience by riding in the Museum's elegant 1927-era Club Car "Jersey Coast", with all the amenities of the 1930s.

TRAINS DEPART at 1, 2, 3 & 4 PM, rain or shine from the Museum site at 1 Railroad Plaza at the intersection of Route 10 West & Whippany Road in Whippany, NJ

TRAIN FARE: Adult: $16.00; Child (under 12): $11.00; Infants (1 year and under): Free  (NOTE: Train fare includes ice cream, admission to Museum building and exhibits)

ABOUT THE MUSEUM: The Ice Cream Train is a fundraising effort to benefit the Whippany Railway Museum, a 501 ( c ) 3 non-profit operating heritage railroad that is staffed by volunteers.  Donations from the public help keep the Museum operational, but funds are still required to support this unique New Jersery treasure.  Proceeds from the train rides will further enhance the Museum's mission and its historic preservation efforts.
