Care-Full is hosting an all-virtual hackathon for 3rd to 8th graders on Saturday, September 26th! All proceeds will go towards the creation and donation of PPE care packages to underserved communities. Visit www.care-full.org for more information.

What: A “hackathon” is an opportunity for kids to create whatever projects they want using code! In our case, all participants will be using Scratch, a beginner-friendly platform where kids can use “blocks” to code with no prior experience. These projects are then submitted to the judges for prizes.

When: September 26th, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Where: Virtually! Our opening and closing ceremonies, as well as a Scratch tutorial, will be held using Zoom. Intermittent “game breaks” will be held on Kahoot.it and Skribbl.io.

Who: Students in 3rd through 8th grade. No experience at all is necessary!

Why: To encourage kids to get involved in computer science, and to help fundraise for Care-Full! To this end, there will be a $10.00 entry fee for each family.

Prizes: There will be two judging categories: 3rd-5th grade, and 6th-8th grade. In each category, we are offering prizes for First, Second, Third, and Most Creative. Students can win gift cards, as well as a selection of cool gadgets and toys that will be shipped right to your door!
