Pennsylvania Ski Resorts Invite Families To Celebrate The Holidays Slopeside With Winter Activities, Festive Events

Want to escape the hustle and bustle of the season and start a new family tradition? Celebrate the holidays on the slopes at one of Pennsylvania’s nineteen Ski Area Resorts. What could be a better way to reconnect with loved ones, then spending quality time together and creating life-long treasured memories. Ski resorts provide a magical holiday getaway with almost guaranteed snow, picturesque scenery and bountiful winter recreational offerings from skiing and snowboarding, to tubing and ice skating.

This holiday, the Pennsylvania Ski Area Resorts (SkiPA) are ringing in the season with a variety of jubilant events designed to cater to every age and interest. Visitors can look forward to dazzling holiday lights, gingerbread house workshops, torchlight parades, New Year’s tubing and ski parties, holiday buffets and even a chance to see Santa on the slopes.

Following are highlights of some of the 2017 Holiday Schedule:

Holiday Events At Pennsylvania Ski Area Resorts

IN THE EAST

  • Bear Creek Mountain Resort, Lehigh Valley
    Breakfast with Santa
    Sunday, December 3, 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.

    Santa will make an appearance at Bear Creek Mountain Resort again this year on December 3. The popular Breakfast with Santa event takes place in the rustic lodge. Families can enjoy a breakfast buffet including waffles with a variety of toppings, bacon and sausage and beverage, visit with Santa and the sights and sounds of the season. Adults: $9.50. Children: $7.50.
  • Montage Mountain Resort, Scranton
    Annual Winter Holiday
    Wednesday, December 6, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.

    Celebrate the start of Montage Mountain’s 2017-2018 Winter Season with a special annual winter holiday evening. Enjoy complimentary food and drinks until 7 p.m., and live entertainment until 10 p.m. The event is free to attend. Resort is accepting unwrapped toys to donate to Toys for Tots.
  • Blue Mountain Resort, Palmerton
    Ugly Sweater Party
    Saturday, December 9, 8 p.m. - 12 p.m.

    Grab your friends and break out your best ugly seater for a festive evening of live music, food and drink specials and prizes at the Slopeside Pub & Grill. Anyone who dresses for the occasion will be entered to win lift tickets, swag bags, gift cards and more. Prizes, will be awarded for the ugliest sweater and most festive outfit. Free admission. Adults 21 and older only.
  • Blue Mountain Resort, Palmerton
    2nd Annual Gin gerbread House Workshop & Photos with Santa
    Sunday, December 10, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

    Blue Mountain Resort is offering families a chance to dust off their creative juices and enjoy a fun afternoon of Gingerbread house making in the Vista Ballroom at the Summit Lodge. Guests can enjoy live acoustic Christmas music and even meet Santa Clause, too. Children 12 and under will receive a special gift from Santa. The resort staff will take photos, but families should bring their own cameras and phones as the staff does not have the capability to print or mail pictures. Cost to attend: $3 per person includes one hot chocolate bar visit per person, meet and greet with Santa and special gift and entertainment. Cost per gingerbread house: $20 for a complete Gingerbread making kit and above. Example: If a family of six wants to attend, the cost would be $18 to attend, plus $20 per house to decorate.
  • Montage Mountain Resort, Scranton
    Breakfast with Santa
    Sunday, December 17, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
    Montage Mountain is hosting its 4th annual “Breakfast with Santa.” Round up the kids for breakfast, crafts, a photo opportunity with Santa and a chance to go snow tubing, weather permitted. *If the tubing park is open, each guest will receive one snow tubing voucher. Ages 12 and up: $20. Ages 3-12: $10. Ages 2 and under are free.
  • Big Boulder, Blakeslee
    NYE Celebration
    Sunday, December 31, 8:30 p.m.
    Kick off the New Year at Big Boulder for a night to remember. Enjoy a torchlight parade starting at 8:30 p.m. followed by fireworks. Tube under the stars and fireworks. The first 200 people to purchase a nighttime snow tubing pass will get free s’mores.
  • Blue Mountain Resort, Palmerton
    New Year’s Eve Tubing Party
    Sunday, December 31, 8 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.

    Families looking for a fun way to ring in the New Year are in for a night of thrills with a special New Year’s Eve Tubing Party at Blue Mountain. Party incudes unlimited tubing, music with DJ, dinner, dessert and a champagne toast for guests 21 and up. Adults (21 & Up) $55 per person. Youth (20 & Under) $35 per person. Limited tickets available, so purchase early.
  • Blue Mountain Resort, Palmerton
    Slopeside New Year’s Eve Celebration
    Sunday, December 31

    Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Blue Mountain’s Slopeside Pub & Grill. Couples can enjoy two package offers. Package One: Includes a five-course meal at Slopeside Pub & Grill featuring a special New Year’s Eve Menu and two cocktails: beer, wine or selected specialty drink. Dinner reservations only between 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. After dinner, the party continues in the Alpine Ballroom with dancing and a DJ. There will be a balloon drop, hats and noisemakers. Champagne toast at midnight (cash bar open at Last Run lounge) and Continental Breakfast after midnight. Cost: $75 per person. Package Two: Dance into 2018 at the Alpine Ballroom featuring a DJ, balloon drop, hats and noisemakers. Cash bar open at Last Run Lounge, Champagne toast at midnight. Continental Breakfast after midnight. Cost: $20 per person.
