Bronx Zoo Boo at the Zoo

Thursdays-Sundays, October 1, 2020 - November 1, 2020. Annual Bronx Zoo Halloween tradition is back at the Bronx Zoo. Family-friendly activities and all safety precautions for a great experience. Sahara Sam's Fall Fest

Every Saturday and Sunday now through October 24, 2020 from 4PM-6PM. Fall Fest at Sahara Sam’s Oasis water park in West Berlin NJ is happening now. The Battleship New Jersey is Back!

Will re-open Saturday, October 3, 2020 with a bang! The Battleship New Jersey will randomly select guests on Saturday, Oct. 3, to pull the trigger and fire the portside saluting gun. Gun shoots will take place at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Opening with tours on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 3pm through the end of the year. Experience a Fire Power tour, climb inside a 16-inch gun turret, track a tomahawk missile launch in the Combat Engagement Center, walk down Broadway and more! $24.99 for adults and $19.95 for veterans, seniors and children 12 and under. Get a free tour with the purchase of an adult tour when you bring an item in to donate to our troops overseas! Items can be dropped off in the Battleship’s Visitors Center in Camden NJ.

Family Fun Fall Weekends, Terhune Orchards

Terhune Orchards will have weekend activities for kids including adventure barn, hay bale maze, pony rides, pumpkin picking & painting, pedal tractors, and exploring the farm trail. Live music, apple products, wine, and more. Timed entry ticket required. $10; children under 3 free. 10AM-3PM. Princeton.

Long Beach Island’s Chowder Month

Take part in an outdoor dining and takeout event runs through Oct 4, 2020. Go directly to 25 competing restaurants and enjoy chowder at your own pace, then cast in your vote for the best chowder. Then participate in the Virtual 2020 Chowder Run + Bike Challenge during Chowder Month. Challenger’s own pace and set the course to walk, run or bike. Virtual means you can ride your Peloton, run your treadmill, or head to your favorite park to reach your goal. Complete your challenge by Oct 4th. Montclair Film Festival 

The full 2020 Montclair Film Festival will be held on October 16-25, 2020 with a line-up that will be announced on October 2, 2020. Reeves Reed Arboretum - Celebrate Fall 2020

Sunday October 18, 2020, due to Covid there will be 2 times slots 11AM-1PM or 1:30PM-3PM. Come to Summit NJ for games, crafts, music, and more! Families can enjoy the Autumn colors, explore Spooky Trail, and decorate a pumpkin. Pre-registration recommended. Fee for non-members.

Somerset County's 15th Annual Journey through the Past 

Your family can safely visit several Somerset County historic sites which will be open FREE to the public on Saturday, October 10, 2020 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 11, 2020 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Link

Liberty Science Center now Open

Open Thursdays through Sundays. The LSC museum and planetarium is reopening and adventures await your whole family. See DC Super Heroes: Discover Your Superpowers (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman). Exhibit Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites opens October 9th. Animals, microbes, and the Hudson River fish are waiting for you in Jersey City NJ. 

New Jersey Botanical Gardens Hikes

Go on a family hike in the woods, explore 1,000 acres of woodlands. Child friendly and tons of fun for kids 8-12. You can also go on a NJBG Solar System Walk and play a game of finding the planets and earth. NJBG located in Ringwood NJ.

Farmer's Markets 

Visit the farmers markets and support them. Many are still open through October or even November. Some farmers' markets have live entertainment. Shopping at a farmers' market is a great way to meet local farmers and get fresh, flavorful produce. Look for your local market found in designated public places like a park or parking lot.

FREE Amazing day for kids on Saturday October 10, 2020 from 10am-6pm. Let your kids explore puzzles, take on challenges, and learn new skills. This program of engaging VIRTUAL events brings together themes of art, technology, and gaming for adults and kids. In partnership with Newark Arts Festival, this day is free. Activities for all children and their families: art olympic challenge, a mine-craft version of the museum, museum games, coding playground, hip hop sound creations and beat making, building Lego Bricks, story time for tots and more! Register for the sessions you're interested in and Zoom in virtually!
