From climbing lighthouses to food trucks and carnival rides, October is full of not to miss fairs and festivals.   Enjoy some free family fun at many of these fall events.  Explore history, arts, crafts, food, adventure and more with things to do for the whole family. 

The Lighthouse Challenge
Oct 15 – 16
Visitors can enjoy the opportunity to tour the state and visit each lighthouse over the weekend, and help raise needed funds for the continued preservation of our treasured landmarks.

The Pocono Food Truck Festival and Art on the Mountain
Oct 15 – 16
Shawnee Mountain Ski Area 401 Hollow Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301
The Pocono Food Truck Festival will feature 20 food trucks from the Pocono Mountains, Lehigh Valley, New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia. Our food truck line-up will feature the best food on wheels ranging from sweet, savory, spicy and delicious. Festival attendees will get a chance to cast their vote for the best food truck.  The 6th annual Art on the Mountain Art Show & Sale will feature some of the regions most talented painters, crafters, photographers, sculptors and more. The Hope Lodge at Shawnee Mountain will house 65+ artists and artisans on two floors.

Bordentown River Fest

Rated as one of the best fall events in 2015 in NJ, RiverFest supports the local 249 year old volunteer fire department. RiverFest is four acres of fun on the Delaware in charming Bordentown City. 15 beers and wine available, 15 restaurants serving awesome faire, 20 specialty vendors and a free kids area with bounce attractions, face painters and more.  Free attendance (donation in lieu of admission suggested), beer and wine tickets available.

Casino Pier Fall Festival

Come join them in the arcade for their annual Fall Festival.  It is FREE and FUN for all.  Come dressed in your best Halloween Costume.  There will be a contest.  Pumpkin painting. Decorate your own pumpkin and bring it home to decorate your house.  Fun games including Pumpkin Bowling, Limbo & Halloween Bingo. 

Sugarloaf Crafts Festival

Garden State Exhibit Center 50 Atrium Drive Somerset
With more than 250 exhibitors, you can find yourself in a sea of men’s and women’s fashion and accessories, woodworking, jewelry, photography, glassware, specialty foods and other mediums. Many of the talented artists at the show will show how they create their art; demonstrations include wheel thrown pottery, wood turning and metal spinning.  The show features live music. Middle Earth’s costume storytelling returns, providing popular children’s entertainment.  Kids 12 & under free & free parking. 

Tenafly Street Fair Craft Show

Over 200 Artists, Crafters and Vendors.  Games, prizes, rides for the kids, food, live bands, DJ's, family fun

Autumn Art & Craft Show

Local artists and craftsmen representing everything handmade will offer their best for the holiday season. Shop ‘till you drop, you could even finish your holiday shopping early. You’ll find something for everyone from jewelry, wreaths, candles, lotions, home décor, painted glassware, country crafts, holiday ornaments, quilts, handbags, toys, games, pet accessories, clothing, scarves, table runners and so much more. Thoughts of the holiday season begin this time of the year and the Fall Craft Show promises to have something for everyone.

Harvest Food Truck & Wine Festival

Join Alba Vineyard for the last festival of the year and celebrate the end of another great harvest.  This event will feature cuisine from the region's best food trucks, Alba's estate wines, and live music by The VooDUDES. Admission includes entrance to the event, parking, and music.   Kids 12 & under free

6th annual Montvale Street Fair

Over 100 quality exhibitors, a special arts & crafts section, a kids area, community section, 2 food courts and continuous live entertainment all day.  kiddie rides, pony rides, petting zoo, climbing wall, clowns, face painting, sand art, temporary tattoos, live entertainment and much more. 

Food Truck & Family Festival

Gardner Field, Denville
Food trucks, family and fun will converge at Gardner Field in Denville all in the name of play. Benefitting Project Playground 2.0, the initiative to renovate the Gardner Field playground, the Food Truck and Family Festival will feature several food trucks, inflatable rides, live music featuring Quarter Pound Jones, Touch-a-Truck section, vendors and more. Tickets can be purchased for $4 before the event or $7 at the door. Kids 5 and under are free.

6th Annual Winter Nights Viking Festival

Vernon Nordic House, 233 Route 94, Vernon
Enjoy Nordic foods, artisan vendors, and presentations about Viking Culture.  Norsewind Band will be returning this year.   The theme of this year is “Alfheim” which means homeland of the elves.   Live like the Vikings did at this festival recreating a Nordic Harvest celebration.
