10 Not to Miss Fairs & Festivals in May

May brings the warmer weather and the start of the fair and festival season.   Festivals are great for families because there is something for everyone to enjoy.   From delicious food to live music and kid’s activities, these are some great free or low cost ideas to have tons of fun.  

Mother Nature Festival
May 7 11 AM - 4 PM
Lawrence Nature Center, 481 Drexel Avenue, Lawrence Twp., NJ 08648
It will be a Wildlife Show by the Philadelphia Zoo, Life of Sharks, learn how electricity works with Solarman, milkweed and monarch butterflies, lots of activities for children and adults, music and more!

Secaucus 6th Annual Green Festival
May 7 10 AM - 4 PM
Secaucus Xchange - 5000 Riverside Station Blvd., Secaucus, NJ
The 6th Annual Green Festival is a celebration with hourly presentations, live animals, music, sand painting, puppet shows, craft activities for children all centered on educating the public about ecologically sound ideas in a fun and participatory manner.

30th Annual New Jersey Seafood Festival
May 14th, 11:00 am – 8:00 pm & May 15th, 11:00 am – 6:00 pm
Silver Lake Park, Belmar
This year’s New Jersey Seafood Festival promises exciting new activities and attractions for the whole family – live music, wine and craft beer tent, contests, kids’ activities, and of course the tastiest seafood around!  FREE admission

Spirit of New Jersey History Fair at Monmouth Battlefield

The 2016 Fair will feature some familiar faces from the past like Clara Barton, George Washington and Walt Whitman as well as such favorite activities as 19th baseball, horse-drawn plowing demonstrations,  Phydeaux’s flying flea circus and period music.

Ocean Fun Days
May 21 & 22 11 AM - 3 PM
Island Beach State Park - Saturday, Sandy Hook - Sunday
Join New Jersey Natural Gas and the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium for the 13th annual Ocean Fun Days! This popular two-day event takes place on Saturday, May 21 at Island Beach State Park and Sunday, May 22 at Sandy Hook from 11a.m. until 3p.m. both days, rain or shine. Free admission both days! Enjoy hands-on marine and environmental programs and exhibits. Remember, learning about our coastal environment is fun for the whole family.

Watershed 10K/5K Trail Run & Festival

It’s the first annual Watershed Trail Run and Festival. The 10K and 5K help support the efforts of Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association's mission to protect and restore clean water and a healthy environment in central New Jersey.

Shawnee Celtic Festival
